May 21 2017 -- On the sixth Sunday of Easter, two (2) members of St. Martin de Porres Lay Dominican Fraternity made their simple profession to the Dominican Laity, in the presence of their ecclesiastical assistant, Rev. Fr. Roberto Luanzon Jr., O.P. The two newly-professed members are Bro. Carlo Oliver Olayta, a biologist by profession, and Bro. John-John Sagabaen, a lawyer. The Rite began with the celebration of the Eucharist at the chapel of the UST Central Seminary. Among the witnesses of their profession were Mrs. Germilina Arceo, O.P., president of the chapter, and their fellow members.
In his homily, Fr. Luanzon reminded the newly-professed of their promise to live by the Dominican way of life within their respective professions, and to keep in mind the God-given mission of spreading the good news in the secular world.
The newly-professed were welcomed by their fellow members with fraternal embrace, and the Mass was followed by an agape. The Chapter marks the profession a blessing and a milestone in their history as the fraternity prepares to celebrate its 30th anniversary in December.
